Self-Protection Behavior and Its Relationship to Psychological Immunity among University Students

Abstract

The current research aims to identify self-protection behavior and its relationship to psychological immunity among university students, as well as to identify the significance of the difference in the relationship according to gender (males - females). It also aims to examine the correlation between the two variables. To achieve these objectives, the researcher adopted the self-protection behavior scale. It was developed by Hadeer (2023), it consisted of 39 items in its final form. The researcher also adopted the psychological immunity scale developed by Razouki (2013), which consisted of 30 items in its final form. The researcher confirmed the psychometric properties of the two scales. The scales were applied to 150 male and female students who were selected randomly from the College of Education, College of Arts, and College of Sciences at Al-Mustansiriya University for the academic year 2024-2025. The results of the research showed that the research sample has self-protection behavior and psychological immunity. There is no statistically significant difference in the relationship between self-protection behavior and psychological immunity according to gender. There is a correlation between self-protection behavior and psychological immunity among university students.
