Abstract

The current research aims to find out historical empathy and its relationship to the achievement of history among sixth-grade high school students. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher adopted the descriptive method. The population is limited to sixth-grade high school students in schools affiliated with the General Directorate of Education of Baghdad Governorate, Al-Rusafa/First, for the academic year 2022-2023, which is 9195 in number. The study sample consisted of 200 male and female students. As for the study tool, the researcher developed a scale of 40 items to measure historical empathy. To analyze and interpret the data, the researcher used the Statistical Portfolio for Social Science (SPSS). The results showed that sixth-grade students have a high level of historical empathy. There are statistically significant differences between males and females, in favor of males. There is a statistically significant positive relationship between the two variables. This means that the greater the historical sympathy, the greater the achievement. In light of the above results, the researcher came up with several recommendations and suggestions.
