Abstract

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of premature death in the developed world and the major cause of death worldwide. Anxiety and depression are serious conditions with a multifactorial etiology. It has become increasingly obvious that psychological issues, notably depression and anxiety, may play a significant and independent role in the development and spread of heart disease in addition to these risk factors. Thus, the aim of the study is to assess the prevalence of depression and anxiety among patients with acute coronary syndrome in Imam Al-Hussain Medical City, Karbala Holly City, Iraq, in addition to studying the socio-demographic, the clinical characteristics and factors associated with anxiety and depression among those patients
